Supported files are processed in your browser. Text is read from every page of a text-based PDF; scanned or image-only PDFs are not reliably supported because there is no OCR. XLSX, XLS, and CSV files are read from the first worksheet only. Recognized values are mapped into editable comparison fields, so complex layouts may need manual correction.

Why Quote Prices Can Be Misleading

When purchasing production line equipment or industrial machinery, the lowest total price does not always mean the best deal. Suppliers may quote different scopes of supply, making direct price comparison unreliable. One supplier may include auxiliary equipment, tooling, spare parts, installation, and training, while another only includes the main machine. Other common differences include different incoterms (FOB vs. EXW vs. CIF), varying warranty periods, different payment terms, and unclear specifications. Why can’t I just compare total prices?
Suppliers often quote different scopes of supply. One quotation may include auxiliary equipment, tooling, installation, and training, while another only includes the main machine. Comparing total prices without checking scope can lead to incorrect procurement decisions and unexpected additional costs.
What does “Missing” mean?
“Missing” means the item was not found in the quotation. It does not mean the supplier definitely excludes it. The supplier may simply not have listed it. You should confirm directly with the supplier.
What does “Unclear” mean?
“Unclear” means the item is mentioned in the quotation, but the scope, conditions, or specifications are not clearly defined. You should ask the supplier for clarification.
Is my quotation data uploaded to a server?
No. Quote file contents are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to UtilRivet. The PDF parser loads its matching processing worker from a third-party CDN, so an internet connection may be required when PDF parsing starts.
Which file types are supported?
The tool accepts PDF, XLSX, XLS, and CSV files. It reads text from all pages of a text-based PDF and processes only the first worksheet in spreadsheet and CSV files. Complex layouts may not map every value correctly.
